Post-doctoral Positions - under following projects

(1) Gravitational Wave Instrumentation :

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in Gravitational Wave (GW) Detector Physics and Instrumentation related to LIGO-India. IUCAA is engaged in major activities for the LIGO-India mega-science project and works on various aspects of GW detector technology development and site preparation. Candidates with experience in any of the related experimental physics or engineering domains, such as, GW instrumentation, noise hunting in electro-mechanical systems, detector related data-analysis, laser stabilisation, Michelson and Fabry-Perot interferometry, instrumentation related to seismic isolation, modelling coupled optical cavities and interferometers, MIMO control systems and related fields are encouraged to apply.

(2) Precision time-domain astronomy to probe cosmic expansion:

Applications are invited for a Research Associate (RA-I) position in the IUCAA' Stars group to work full time in a research project funded by the PM-ECRG scheme of the Anusandhan National Research Foundation. The project focusses on optical-infrared time-series photometric studies of Local Group galaxies, identifying and classifying their variable stars and using them as stellar population tracers and distance indicators. Expertise in time-series photometric data reduction and data analysis techniques are essential. The applicant should have completed Ph.D. in Astronomy and Astrophysics but those expected to submit their thesis before joining can also apply. The fellowship amount is Rs. 58000/- + HRA as per ANRF norms. The position is initially for one year, extendable for up to one more year (or till the end of the project whichever is earlier) subject to satisfactory performance of the candidate and availability of funds. The eligibility criteria and age limit will be applicable as per ANRF norms. The earliest joining date is August 2026 and the position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project.
