IUCAA invites applications from highly motivated students, who have qualified in
"JEST-2025"/"JEST-2026" and/or "CSIR-UGC NET for JRF (Physics) 2024 & 2025" , for admission to its Ph.D. Programme.
The academic year 2026-2027 at IUCAA will begin on August 03, 2026
Eligibility:
Students, who expect to complete M.Sc. (in Physics / Electronics / Astronomy / Applied Mathematics) or B.E. / B.Tech. / M.E. / M.Tech. degree (any branch) before August 03, 2026 are eligible to apply.
In addition, talented final year B.Sc., 1st year M.Sc. (in Physics, Electronics / Astronomy / Applied Mathematics), 2nd / 3rd year Integrated M.Sc. and 2nd / 3rd year B.E. / B.Tech. (any branch) students can also apply to be pre-selected for the Ph.D. program.
Students who have already completed the above degrees can also apply.
All students should have an aggregate or equivalent of 55% marks or more in the qualifying degree. A relaxation of 5% in the qualifying marks, from 55% to 50%, is applicable for candidates belonging to the SC/ ST/ OBC-NCL/ EWS or Person with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) category. JEST-2025/ CSIR/UGC JRF (NET) qualified candidates who were interviewed last year will not be eligible to be interviewed in the current cycle. However, these candidates may apply based on JEST-2026 or a fresh CSIR/UGC JRF (NET) scorecard. Interviews: The shortlisted candidates will be invited for two rounds of in-person interviews to be conducted at IUCAA, Pune scheduled during June 29 - 30, July 01, 2026. The details of the interviews will be informed later.The last date for receipt of applications is May 28, 2026 [ Extended ] . Please avoid last minute rush and submit your online applications well before the last date. In the event of a delay in the announcement of results of the CSIR-UGC Joint NET December 2018 exam beyond our deadline, i.e. MONTH DD, YYYY, this application page will be made available only to the candidates of CSIR-UGC Joint NET December 2018 exam with a new deadline of one week earlier than the interview dates.
